Hello friends and visitors!
We are Jason and Jessica. We have been happily married since 2012 and have 3 beautiful children, Joshua, Sydney and Harrison. We come from a strong law enforcement and first responder background and both continue to serve our community as deputy sheriff's. While Jason works full time as a deputy, Jess is a reserve deputy, so she is able to focus most of her time to the kids, dogs/pups. She loves to put her reserve hours in working with the k-9 unit to assist during training so she is constantly learning and working Pippi in HRD.. When we aren't working, volunteering, or taking care of our beautiful babies (both furry and human), we enjoy hunting, fishing, kayaking and one of our favorite past times, GAME NIGHTS!!!
We found our love for labradors many years ago with my first, very own dog, Sampson. He showed me how amazing and perfect the breed really is. A couple of years after my beloved Sampson passed away, I happened upon a post that forever changed my life. I found my founding stud dog, Tex. Those were not our original intentions for him but we kind of fell into everything. I did loads of research on health testing and saw how tons of other breeders were raising their babies and sort of developed over time to what our program in now. I didn't want to be one of those breeders that barely handles their pups and essentially just feeds them and hoses poop out of a kennel. I have seen this and it is absolutely pathetic and disgusting how they can be treated this way. All of our pups are raised indoors, like family. However, we no longer do specifically in-home due to the stresses of not only the momma dogs and feeling protective with all of life's normal chaos and other dogs around, but also the stress of our other dogs needing their own space. So, we created our whelping house. It is just outside our home and has the best private space for the mommas and babies to allow us to introduce structured chaos in order to prepare the babies for the world. In the whelping house, it is set up so they are able to have a temperature controlled, sanitary, safe and comfortable environment with a play yard just outside the door for multiple daily trips out once they become active and big enough to explore and work on other skills.
While we don't prefer a kennel life for a puppy or dog, we now also have a kennel set-up in order to prepare our working line pups/dogs so they are appropriately acclimated to the weather they will need to work in. These pups/dogs are frequently relieved throughout the day for play time as well as scheduled training sessions. These dogs/pups are also socialized amongst each other as well as the other dogs/pups on the premises to not only give them the socialization aspect but also adequate play time and mental stimulation.
See a bit of what we do!
We take pride in producing the healthiest, happiest pups by assuring they are raised in-home with the family, not outside in kennels. Our pups are family to us and are treated as such. We believe breeders who keep multiple dogs in kennels for the purpose of breeding may as well be considered "puppy mills" and we would love to change the stigma they give to the breeding community.
Here, at Harrison's Lakeside Labradors, our pups receive love and care as well as plenty of exercise daily. Producing litters is extremely time consuming. We believe to fully care for our puppies properly, it takes round-the-clock attention. If there is ever a time you can't reach us, you can rest assure we are taking care of our lovable babies.
For those of you who have been following our whelping house build or those who are new to us, we have built a whelping house just for the mommas and babies to be raised in so it is like being in home but they will feel safer without having the other pets around them at such an early age. This assists us in easy clean-up and keeps things very manageable for the babies. Check out our TikTok or Facebook page to see the build and how well it is working for us.
